Welcome to Scouting Erskine, the Amsterdam Sea scout group.

Scouting Erskine is a Dutch Sea Scout group. Our group name and motto stem from the Scottish Erskine Clan. Our group has been very fortunate in a longstanding friendship with this clan and the kind permission to use the Erskine family name and tartan.

We are a mixed group with Cubs, Scouts, Venture Scouts and what the Dutch call ‘Loodsen’.

Our headquarters are ideally situated in the South of Amsterdam, on the edge of a three square kilometre lake. We have direct access to the Amsterdam canals and, across the lake, to a canal that enables us to go to three other large lakes, all within a two to four hours’ journey by boat.

The lake is surrounded by the ‘Amsterdamse Bos’, a large man-made forest with lots of woodland, open fields, a children’s farm etc.

Amsterdam City centre, Schiphol Airport and various shops are all within easy reach, due to the many forms of public transport in the vicinity of our clubhouses.

We have a fleet of steel flat-bottom boats, ‘lelievletten’, purposely designed for Scouting, each holding six to eight persons. They can be used to sail, row and scull and can't sink because of the built-in air chambers. Due to their basic design, the scouts do the maintenance work themselves, learning all about woodwork and painting at the same time.
